Hifz programme

Since its inception in 2004, Ar-Rahmah Academy has been running a Hifz programme. This entails the memorisation of the Holy Qur’an, using traditional teaching methods, as espoused bt classsical Islamic scholars. The course requires a thorough knowledge of reading the Qur’an (Naazirah), along with the correct pronounciation of the Arabic letters(Tajweed). Everything needed for the Hifz programme is taught in our Maktab programme.

The programme is taught in small class sizes, headed by dedicated teachers. The Academy maintains Islamic principles and an Islamic environment ensuring that the correct supplements are provided during the course of this most holy endeavour. Currently, two classes are taught in parallel: a Hifz programme for boys and also one for girls at the same time.

Maktab

The Academy offers a comprehensive and structured Islamic education for boys and girls aged four and above.
Classes run from: Monday-Friday 4:45 pm-6;45pm
During their time at the Academy pupils will study a wide range of topics and books in a systematic way. Areas covered include; correct recitation of the Qur’an Majeed, Islamic Beliefs, Islamic Jurisprudence, Sayings & Teachings of the Messenger of Allah Ta’la(Sallallahualaihiwasallam) and Islamic History.

Our syllabus is divided in three key areas;

  • Qur’an recitation with ‘tajweed’
  • The Ar-Rahmah Syllabus
  • Spiritual Development

Qur'an Recitation

Reciting the Qur’an Majeed correctly is necessary for every Muslim.

The habits (good or bad) that are developed early on have a long and lasting effect on a child’s ability to recite the Qur’an Majeed correctly. At the Academy great importance is attached to ensuring every child gets off to a good start in learning to pronounce the letters of the Arabic alphabet correctly. Rules of ‘tajweed’ are gradually introduced and emphasized so by the time a child is reciting the Qur’an Majeed they are aware of the rules of tajweed and are confident in implementing them.

The Ar-Rahmah Syllabus

This syllabus has been put together by the Academy itself and covers many important areas in a gradual and systematic method. The new revised syllabus is now available. You can use this to assist your child at home and keep a track of their progress.

Spiritual Development

Islamic Knowledge is not the mere learning of words and the gathering of information, rather it is a special light which enters the heart and enables the heart to become a treasure of lofty morals. At the Academy Maktab, the teachers are fully aware of the importance of moral training and spiritual development and so the imparting of knowledge goes hand in hand with this important branch of Islam.

Self-reformation & Da'wah

The branch of Shariah that deals with the actions of the heart is called ‘tazkiyah’ .Tazkiyah is the spirit (ruh) and the state of perfection of the religion.

Its role is to rids man’s heart of vile and evil attributes such as lust, anger, malice, jealousy, love of the world, love of fame, stinginess, greed, ostentation, vanity, deceit, calamities of the tongue, and the like. At the same time it seeks to adorn the heart with the lofty attributes of perseverance, gratitude, fear of Allah, hope, abstention, unity, trust, love, truthfulness, truth, remorse, reflection, reckoning, contemplation, and so on.

Hence, it becomes apparent that the goals of ‘Tazkiyah’ must be achieved by every believer, since they are commanded in the Qur’an Majeed and Sayings of The Messenger (Sallallahualaihiwasallam).

According to the teachings of Islam , the remembrance of Allah Ta’ala (zikr) plays a vital role in cleansing and polishing the heart. It is for this reason we are commanded by the Qur’an Majeed to remember Allah Ta’al a at all times.

The Academy holds weekly sessions to understand spiritual diseases and their cures.
